Meet the 2026 Teen Camp CITs!

At Maui Surfer Girls Teen Camp, our Counselors-in-Training (CITs) play an important role in creating the supportive, fun, and empowering community that makes camp so special. As former campers themselves, they understand firsthand what it’s like to arrive for the first time, make new friends, and discover confidence in the ocean and beyond. This summer, we’re excited to introduce four outstanding CITs who bring enthusiasm, leadership, kindness, and a deep love for surfing to our camp family. Get to know these inspiring young women and learn how their Maui Surfer Girls journeys have come full circle as they step into leadership roles and help create unforgettable experiences for the next generation of campers.

 

Meet Juliet

I’m from Boulder, Colorado, and am so excited to be a CIT this summer. I just graduated from high school, and I’m going to San Diego State in the fall! This will be my third summer with Maui Surfer Girls, but I was previously a camper. I took my first surfing lesson when I was around seven years old, on Kauai. My instructor and dad were very encouraging, so I began surfing whenever I had the opportunity. My favorite camp memories came from late nights with the girls in my cabin. From talking and laughing to throwing a little cabin party, I formed close friendships that extended beyond Maui Surfer Girls. I can’t wait to be your CIT this summer and have the best cabin!

 

Meet Katie

Hi! I’m Katie Stinson and I’m from Austin TX. I just graduated highschool and will be starting at University of Colorado Boulder in the fall. I’ve been a camper for 3 years and it will be my first time as a CIT!

I discovered surfing when my mom took me on a trip to Maui when I was 9 and signed us up for a family lesson with MSG. One of my favorite memories from camp is when we turned our cabin into a club. We had so much fun dancing and taking photos.

 

Meet Maggie

Hi Everyone! My name is Maggie, and I am from Ann Arbor, Michigan, and this will be my fourth summer at camp, and second summer as a CIT. I will be a freshman at the University of Michigan this fall. I learned to surf at Maui Surfer Girls my first summer as a camper! One of my favorite camp memories is last year’s talent show.

Meet Tessa

Hi! I’m Tessa Sladkus and I’m from New York City. I’m so excited to be a CIT this year! I just graduated high school and am going to Chapman University in the fall. My first time surfing was on the Jersey Shore when I was 13 and I’ve been going to Maui Surfer Girls for 3 years. My favorite camp memory is talking around the campfire!
