Kitchen Work/Trade Positions for Seasonal Camps

We occasionally have opportunities for work trade positions at our surf camps. Lodging, meals and on-island Transportation during camp are included (flights are not included). Check the dates for the Women’s Camps or Teen Girls Camp and see if any dates line up for you (please do not email us for the dates, they are all online). Review the position details below and if it seems like a good fit, there’s a link to apply at the bottom. Please note, we are NOT a year round surf camp.

The work part entails being a 3rd set of hands in the kitchen: washing dishes (this is the main task of this position), helping prep ingredients for meals, assisting with any grocery shopping needs, helping keep beverage areas in the dining hall stocked, helping with kitchen laundry as well as any other tasks the chefs need assistance with.

The trade part entails free oceanfront lodging and all meals for the week, surfing with us every day (you can join in on the lessons and get coaching from our staff) and joining us for some of the afternoon adventures depending on the kitchen’s needs/schedule.

Typically the day looks like waking up early (5-5:30am) to get breakfast out for the campers (served at 6 or 6:30am), cleaning up after breakfast (you are typically working on your own during breakfast), heading out to surf (or taking the time off to chill) after you finish breakfast duties, coming back to camp for lunch and a break then joining the kitchen crew in the afternoon (usually between 2-4pm depending on the day’s schedule) to help the chefs prep and serve dinner then clean up dishes/kitchen afterward. Most meals are served buffet style but we serve a 3-course plated dinner one evening during the week and that day can be the most hectic in the kitchen as the timing of plating, etc has to be coordinated to go out while the food is still hot. It is a good bit of work (can be around 6-8 hrs of working on your feet each day) but we have an amazing staff/crew that make it fun and you get to meet new people from all over the country (and sometimes world) in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
